Hi! I'm Marissa,
the owner of Styx River Taxidermy
Featured in Adirondack Life Magazine and LocalADK Magazine.
I began my taxidermy career in college where I was formally trained in drawing, painting, and sculpture. I received my degree in Fine Arts while also honing my skills under master taxidermist Jim Brown. From there I worked under various other taxidermists, developing my own style and widening my skill set. For me, creating a lifelike mount is a way of honoring the animal's beauty in life. |
Pricing & Field Care
Call ahead to schedule an appointment before bringing an animal in please!
Our prices are a direct reflection of the expertise and time put into every single mount. We always use the highest quality materials, the latest techniques, and are always striving to learn and improve. The result is a stunningly lifelike and long lasting mount. Prices for lifesize mounts include a simple slab wood base. Bases with custom rocks, foliage, etc are an additional 30%. We highly recommend getting creative with your project!
After an animal is deceased, the best thing you can do is either bring them to us right away or place them in a plastic bag and freeze. Do not drag deer on the floor, it will leave broken hair/bald patches that will be noticeable on most mounts. If the animal is going to a butcher beforehand please advise them what type of mount you will be getting done (lifesize, shoulder, etc.) so they leave us the proper amount of skin to work with. If you have questions at any time please give us a call!
